Nobody could have predicted the disastrous outcome.
Zardari, Yousaf Reza Gillani and Shahbaz, all the looters and plunderers were positioned against Oxford honesty, but in Pakistan honesty does not win the game.
This was the bitter reality faced by Imran Khan yesterday. All his efforts and his squeaky clean image did not draw any sympathy from the politicos, rather they revelled in the old boys’ victory over the newcomer who had to be taught a lesson.
The cost to the country notwithstanding nor the continuing corruption, and the effect on the people’s wellbeing.
The Supreme Court ruling was like an astrologer’s prophecy with a meaning for everyone.
The scandalous part is that the known corrupt especially Yousaf Reza Gillani addressed as the “The Jewel Thief” by leading TV channels was allowed to contest and not barred at the outset.
The ultimate insult to Pakistan was Zardari’s choice of Gillani as the nominee. An appointment which showed his contempt for the institution.
Why was there such a palaver over the Supreme Court decision when it was turned into a non issue and was treated as such by all concerned.
Yet another red herring. Well played Supreme Court. It would have meaningful if the Supreme Court had ruled Yousaf Reza Gillani out at the beginning.
The other stakeholders watched ‘seemingly unconcerned’ yet savouring the extension granted by Imran Khan at great personal cost.
There are 7 generals who have been superseded and left in disgust. Imran Khan is a Simple Simon.
Bajwa entertained the enemies of the PM to tea at GHQ maintaining that he was following a policy of neutrality and non interference while giving his assent to the long litany of accusations against a sitting Prime Minister.
His behaviour smacked of being part of them to the anti - Imran refrain being voiced by the opposition parties.
If he was indeed showing his support for the anti-Imran players then he should have returned his extension and resigned immediately.
He could not avail of the extension and simultaneously become the bulwark of anti Imran protests.
It is apparent that the Supreme Court and the GHQ have different ways of dealing with different situations.
We Pakistani citizens are at a loss to see the only honest politician Imran Khan surrounded by his enemies that include those on Indian pay and who have been identifed by the ISI Chief.
The PM of Pakistan certainly deserved more loyalty than he has received at the hands of a resurrected chief.
Not the least is the Senate election.
Did the ISI and the MI not know who had taken money and how much?
The dossier should have been on the PM desk 15 minutes before close of play.
The failure of a strategy is not allowed. Especially at this - the highest level. It is obvious the advice by the General to the Prime Minister was fallacious and he should pay for this mistake.
Before the vote was cast General Sahib, the swagger in Yousaf Reza Gillani is more telling than it seems.
It is obvious that his selection and victory was manipulated. To believe otherwise is to deny reality.
We the people understand that.
General Bajwa, you are betraying the interests of your troops as indeed the politicians have betrayed the interests of the masses.
