This was the title of a bestseller which went viral. It surely applies to Israel that has manipulated itself into becoming a nuclear power and casting a shadow as big as America itself.

Unfortunately, for Israel aggressive leadership has brought itself a policy of aggression and the export of these threats to not just its neighbours, but far beyond its own borders.

Their latest threats are to Pakistan which is more than 2000 miles away from their borders but their threats are of missile attacks which are more ominous from such a large distance.

Invariably, one expects an attack from a neighbour by ground, sea or air.
To be threatened by an adversary far beyond the horizon is more than unreasonable. Even the US used nuclear weapons against Japan only after Japan had attacked first and the war continued unabated for 8 years. These bombs were used to stop the hostilities and peace resulted.

For Israel to use this nuclear threat against Pakistan is not sensible and defies logic. Netanyahu seems to be harbouring delusion of regional dominance. This has been achieved by conquering inept countries like Egypt whose famous victories were 3000 years ago.

Today the world is a different place. The nuclear weapon brandishing can only be threats to large industrialist and developed countries. Israel with its nuclear arsenal is a bigger threat to the US. China and Russia are not only beyond its reach but, their interests are not in conflict.

Pakistan has nuclear assets for defence against India who is rabidly anti Pakistan and has made no secret of using these weapons against Pakistan.

Originally they acquired capability as a feather of an achievement in joining the so called “Nuclear Club” i.e. US,Russia, France, China & UK. This exclusive club was more for show rather than for actual use. As most of these countries preferred economic progress to military might.

This new direction came about after the collapse of the soviet empire and the high cost of military might proved unsustainable and led to the collapse of the soviet republic. Now the Russian states are trying to catch up with the economic progress of the Europeans which has left the Russians far behind. They have realised that their military might was too expensive to sustain. Their new dream is to be economically ahead.

In the olden days military power was essential to expand and conquer areas for supply of raw materials and to establish markets. Nowadays, this must be through peaceful means. Military defences are no longer required. Except for isolated incidents like the Somali Pirates who were successful for a while and now are firmly under control.
The world is now a peaceful place with the Americans losing the war in Afghanistan where they had no reason to be.
