Articles of the year 2020

The trap has been laid. It remains to be seen who will fall.
They lines are very clear. The entire game is for an NRO. Nothing less. That is clear. Nawaz is safe as he was the weakest link in the chain, and had cried for mercy to get himself out of jail. He may hate being away from Jati Umrah, but he hates jail more.
The others are well used to the living conditions of the prison. The accumulated wealth of Nawaz and Zardari is well worth the fight. With only Imran standing in their way, they are prepared to remove him if that is the cost. Neither of the two wants to better the country.
The people have realised that the battle is not for their rights but for the looted wealth. To be brought back to Pakistan, or to be retained by the corrupt. It is in fact a battle for the soul of Pakistan. Maulana Fazlur Rehman are all the extras in it for their two bits.
Pakistan can be another Dubai or Singapore, if the law could be obeyed. No new laws are needed, for the British left a very complete legal system that was dismantled by politicians pretending to be democrats.
The truth is different, the Nawaz Zardari team cannot allow the rule of law, for their fortunes are all illegal, and face confiscation at the least.
The Judiciary are well aware of the role required of them it remains to be seen whether they will be able to resist the temptation that they have become accustomed to, and may have devolved into a right. How will Imran recalibrate the system.
The judges may believe their rights are being taken away. No. A revolution is the need of the hour, but Imran will have to shed his carpetbaggers.
The Sikander Mirza Martial law failed because Qasim Bhatti a notorious smuggler of the day was a frequent visitor.
The situation for Imran is more precarious and his performance is abysmal, because the entire bureaucracy is in cahoots with the criminals. A superb Punjabi expression is appropriate.
“Kuttee choron nal ralgayee” meaning the watchdog has joined the thieves.
The PDM has fallen victim to its own hype thinking that the people will be led to a land of milk and honey. The people are not stupid. The only milk and honey available is within the gates of Jatti Umra and that to for the nearest and deareast. None else.
With Zardari the number was larger, for those who helped themselves. The list is very short. A linesman who was promoted to a ministry is reportedly still in jail, not able to spend his billions. That he had stolen Zardari has left him in free fall.
The citizens are well aware of them having been duped. It is now the Gullu Butts, and a handful of Madrassah students that will be in the procession.
Unfortunately Maulana Diesel does not have the organizational skills or size of the JI. The Maulana has also made the cardinal error of threatening the Army by saying that he would do to the Pakistan army what the Afghans did to the Americans.
If Maulana thinks this is so he is delusional, and has lived on Zardari’s loot for too long.
His religious fervour has long lost its lustre.
Imran is certainly a more devout muslim. Does the Maulana really believe that he can command a following ? Nawaz Sharif has read the script well. He will sit this one out and watch it from the very cosy comfort of Park Lane.
