Revolution from Within
Published on February 10th, 2020

The Minister of Aviation stated on the floor of the house that the open skies policy has cost the Pakistani people Rs.100 billion. This staggering amount does not include the spinoff benefits that an airline provided for the economy of a country. Engineering tourism and hotels are all related to the airline. PIA was responsible for the hotels at the airport.

PIA shavers the poultry subsidiary amongst other benefits the city of Karachi received from hosting PIA in Karachi. This fuelled the economy of Karachi and creation of jobs for Karachites. This highly skilled pool of labour, provided engineering, accounting, computing - all these are advanced technologies and are airline related advantages that Karachi benefited from just by the presence of PIA.

All this was squandered by our Emperor Prime Minister. With one grand gesture he decided that as Emperor Prime Minister he could bequeath traffic rights to his fellow rulers like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Bahrain. Emirates alone has 20 flights a day from Pakistani points to Dubai. Our Emperor Prime Minister did not realise how he was destroying an airline that was amongst the best in the world and was providing salaries and nourishments to thousands of Karachites.

All this was to evaporate till we are left with an empty shell of the city of Karachi and a highly unemployed skilled labour force. This force may soon turn to other activities criminal and otherwise. They have to look for sustenance created by the now defunct airline. It is a pity that the maker of this disaster is wondering what he did wrong.

The psychophants are insisting that he did a lot for Pakistan, and was a great prime minister and will vote for him again. It is indeed shameful that Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif and Benazir are being regaled with songs of praise and gratitude when in reality these politicians lost half the country and the rosey future that was once the dream of very Pakistani. They have also succeeded in escaping punishment that was due to them.

Even Imran Khan has been stopped from fulfilling his election promises when he swore that he will return the looted wealth of Pakistan. That has still not happened, we have been told that the mission is too difficult and may lead to the collapse of the country. We need to know that this country is already in the throes of a collapsed state.

This country is already dead. The glazed look in the eyes of the people show the pain and suffering of making their ends meet. Reasons being the exorbitant costs for surviving in Pakistan. An angel in the garb of revolution will come, Democracy has not worked in Pakistan. We have seen 30 years of this democracy which has brought us nothing but a shameful series of governments that have destroyed all the institutions that we inherited from our colonial masters who gave us functioning institutions.

Judges like Cornelius still look upon the courts to dispense justice which are even now courted in strident tones where further arguments are necessary. These were the people at the birth of this country. However “democracy” has brought us to our present sorry state. Perhaps a real revolution is the final solution.

To do away with the corrupt leadership and their progeny is the need. We cannot allow the children and grandchildren of these convicted criminals to continue ruling on their slogan of the sacrifice they have made for the country. When in reality they have butchered and decimated and destroyed this country. This revolution must come from within.
