Articles of the year 2020

We must draw attention to the sad behaviour of some of our leaders that have brought this great country to such a sorry state by their wrongdoings.
Corruption was their method and the goal was money. The Sharifs were businessmen so making money was their profession but Benazir should’ve known better and her choice of corrupt practices is inexcusable. Her sad ending has only been the furtherance of her legend. The Peoples Party legend continues, and as a trademark, will be a vote-getter for many years.
Unfortunately, the myth mists over her true character. Some of her actions are inexplicable and show a basic flaw in her character. This proud nation suffers from a disease that can be labeled as ‘democracy abuse’. Luckily for Pakistan, Imran Khan has appeared on the scene after 25 years of labouring through the political jungle.
Infested by many murderous hitherto successful politicians beginning with Gurmani at the gravesite of Liaquat Ali Khan with his widow and children, Zardari weeping uncontrollably at Benazir’s gravesite, these are all images that are an indelible part of Pakistan’s history and yet these people gave direction to the hapless nation. From this rotten mixture, Imran has emerged as the proverbial sheriff on the white horse with an array of bad guy to contend with. Pakistan has no option but to see Imran prevail upon these pygmies who have so far damaged the country.
The criminality of the Zardari-Nawaz duo will only serve to enhance the stature of the Khan. His unequivocal stance on the NRO has accorded him a larger stature and at the same time reduces the Sharifs and the Zardaris to the Lilliputian pygmies grasping for the spoils from their raids on the nation’s coffers.
Pakistan is lucky to have its geographical position. The Straits of Hormuz are only 15 miles at its narrowest, oversees 75% of the world’s oil. This is not loss to the Chinese who have faith in Pakistan’s ability to protect this region. This makes it the most valuable and “potentially dangerous” waterway in the world. The hiccup in the oil crises of the 70s were nightmares for European motorists queuing for petrol, cursing the Arabs. The Hormuz straits are a constant reminder of the need for an honest guard over this vital gate. No Nawaz or Zardari would be trusted in this position by the international powers- but Imran will be. Imran has the moral authority to be trusted with this. His international recognition serves to a greater boost by making his adversaries Zardari and Nawaz that much smaller by comparison.
The other pillars of the state, the Establishment and the Media, must follow Imran and stop their attempts to sabotage his governance. Every such attempt exposes their villainy. If anything, they must guide and support Imran with the correct advice so that he is not led into pitfalls by the politicians fighting for return to loot and plunder.
Also, The Supreme Court must protect Imran from the many well paid lawyers creating stumbling blocks at every step. The Judiciary must play its role and avoid these legal minefields. Imran must prevail.
