Have Faith in China
Published on February 04th, 2020

The big debate on the social media is to bring back the Pakistani students studying in China. This is a colossal mistake and should be discouraged immediately.
The children should be asked to continue their studies in China wherever they may be presently studying.

They should be compensated monetarily and encouraged to continue their studies. The Chinese government is doing their best to control the epidemic and they will soon find the cure and put an end to their crisis.

I have more faith in the ability of the Chinese to overcome this problem. If they return to Pakistan, they will expose themselves to higher risks and to an environment where the chances of a secondary infection are higher and may prove fatal.

The politicians in Pakistan have shown that Larkana as the birth place of the Bhuttos has the highest rate of HIV positive children as young as four. Far better to take ones chances in a Chinese hospital than to risk an early death in a Pakistani clinic due to the incompetence of the local system.

The successive political governments have given us the lowest chances of survival in any form of communicable diseases. The mortality due to dog bites is the highest in the region.
Pakistan is now the only country in the world where polio has not been eradicated and is indeed a shameful tribute to the administration of successive political governments.

Polio, which is a cruel disease for young children and the cure has been available to Pakistani children over thirty years has been eradicated all over the world. Yet in Pakistan, cases still manage to surface in some parts. This is a shameful testament to our political leadership. It will be better for our youth to stay in China and face the consequences of the Chinese attempts to control the virus.

The chances of success of Chinese efforts will be certainly better than risking the contamination of a secondary infection in Pakistan where the chances of a decent treatment will be minimal at best.

The example of the Sharif’s in having all treatments abroad is indicative of the low confidence in the local remedies available. This shows that the Pakistani leadership has no faith in its own medical system. Therefore it is advisable to our students in China to stay where the survival is far greater than in their homeland. This is indeed the shameful reality of the failure of Pakistani democracy.
