A similar enquiry is under process against ex-premier Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain in an assets beyond resources case, worth Rs 2,428 billion. A case of the same nature was also filed against the sitting treasury minister Ishaq Dar. He is under inquiry for three cases of 23 million pound, 3,488 million dollars and 1,250 million dollars.'(dawn 8 July) The level of corruption in Pakistan has now reached astronomical levels. We are looking at embezzlement of 2,428 billionUSD. Ie 2.4 trillion Rs by Ch Shujaat Husain. And 1,250 million US, (1.25 billion ) USD,by Schon group. Both these figure are larger than the Sind Budget 2015/16 is 739 Billion, and Punjab is 1447 Billion.
It is no wonder we are a poor country, with very rich leaders. It is now time for the Supreme Court to declare them disqualified from the assemblies. The prison sentences can come later. And the seizure of assets. Pakistan has become the laughing stock of the world, with personal corruption larger than the fiscal budgets of the two major provinces!
With highly educated, and highly trained personnel, and leadership that considers itself politically savvy and touted to have management skills above norm. We have become a nuclear power, but surrounded by such immense corruption this makes us that much more dangerous. Also for us to find that we are being managed by crooks is demeaning. The Supreme Court has no option but to take action. Otherwise the Supreme Court will be guilty of dereliction of duty. How can the Judge ignore such monumental crimes. The investigations have been done and are complete. The Supreme Court must declare them disqualified, so that they are moved out of the assemblies, away from the levers of power.
Gen.Raheel Sharif is doing a great job in tackling the Terrorists. He also realizes that the biggest terrorists sit within the assemblies, but these the big fish have not been touched, waiting for another NRO perhaps. In the meantime the rangers have already rounded up many of the lesser criminals. Alarmingly, the gunmen arrested are confessing to 130 targeted kills each. All these persons were killed on the command of members of political parties. Surely the politicians donot have a mandate for murder? These parties manage to blackmail the government in claiming the ability to close down Karachi on command. Should the government allow such terrorism to succeed?
They are vying for scores equal to some of the bigger duck shoots, in Sind. These numbers are human beings not ducks. Surely these numbers are shameful. Surely the Supreme Court can not be blind to this? These kills could place Pakistan on a Terror Watch list, one more step towards a Pariah state. Aided and abetted by both the CIA and MI6, Pakistan is being led into a path of deadly politics where a human life is considered of no consequence, and expendable, and will make politics out of reach of decent human beings. Leaving politics an occupation for the corrupt and the crooked.
The political murderers with instructions to kill on command so chillingly described by Saulat Mirza, shows how deeply the politicians, and political parties were involved. To them murder on order was part of the criminal ethos that had pervaded the system. It appears that the system is beyond redemption. When one reads about the Medellin gangs or the Mexican drug lords, these are criminals specialising in distribution of drugs. In Pakistan, the corruption is from the bludgeoning of the people. Only 150 cases in NAB have raked in, 2 trillion Rs. These sums were stolen from the people, so when we see children begging, when they could easily be gainfully educated and employed, earning an honest living, then the time has come to ask the Supreme Court to come to the rescue of Pakistan, by declaring these criminals as disqualified. They have committed treason, and should be hanged. Even Bhutto should be vilified, for he set the tone for lootocracy. A new word invented by the People’s Party to show how to make money in the garb of democracy. While preaching to the world on the wonders of democracy.
This is the only country in the world where the industrialists and businessmen do not appear in the top twenty wealthiest, it is reserved for the politicians. With no business acumen. All the sugar mills belonging to Zardari were ‘taken over’ at throwaway prices. Even lands were purchased/procured at Zardari’s wishes. Zardari has managed to accumulate the largest fortune in Pakistan without an industrial,or business , oil, IT , source. His entire fortune is unaccountable, for, and there is no link to any legal basis.
The latest story doing the rounds is of a politician bragging that he can spend 300,000 dollars a day for the next 90 years, and still not run out of money. This money was stolen from the people of Pakistan. With Bhutto nationalising industries, the businessmen were removed from the field, which was left open to thieves with the political power,to do as the pleased. It is a wonder that Pakistan is not yet a failed state. We have the only billionaires in the world that have no known source of income– not even drugs. They have robbed from the state. No industries, no shipping no Airlines, just running the country, into the ground.
Perhaps a revolution is the need of the hour. The bloodier the better. We cannot afford these experiments at the cost of human suffering. There is no justification for this behaviour.
