The situation in Pakistan is growing more alarming by the day. On the one hand the television anchors are saying with confidence that according to hitherto reliable sources are stating that ” the cleanup will be starting shortly, and it will be across the board , no favourites and no victimisation.” the politicians simply retort by even more shrill attacks in the Assemblies, and in the same media, on the same channels. Daring the LEAS from taking any action. This is being called a bluff by no less a personality than Zardari himself. His demeanour and actions show that he is daring the Army to take action, convinced that no action is expected soon.
Unaccountably there is no clear response from the Army sources, not even through their ‘well connected’ .Further raising the doubts planted by the Zardari network. In the meanwhile the MQM is crying persecution, claiming to be the only party acted against by the authorities. Until now they are correct, and until the government acts against anyone else their position is verified. Surprisingly, there has been no action against the PPP , or the PMLN leadership. Showing that the Muk Muka was not only in place, but the nonaction against both these parties shows their complicity. The Army inaction is also being held as an example of the influence of some other forces.
Zardari has succintly summed up his opinion saying that he has heard these threats many times, and the wolf wolf cry has never frightened him. Nor has the wolf!
Zardari, the most successful and the most corrupt politician in our generation, who has run circles around most others, is ahead on points, and is running lucrative scams ranging from land transfers, to postings in Sindh. No officer can be appointed in Sindh without the approval of Zardari, and therefore his loyalties are already committed and all instructions are at Zardari’s behest, making him all powerful. With this power he does not care nor fear anyone let alone the wolf, that is reluctant to come into the open! Zardari has even threatened to write to the Federal Government to withdraw the Rangers from Karachi. This step would mean that the Army is hostage to the orders of Asif Zardari. It is amazing that Zardari has managed to outflank the most powerful institution in Pakistan – the Army. And is going from strength to strength. Even the all powerful MQM is seemingly unworried and is also convinced that the wolf is not to be scared of. The MQM has never bucked the Army, and so it would seems that they are also convinced that the wolf is a ghost that will not appear. Thus proving conclusively that the manoeuvring of a crippled PPP is able to continue to rule Pakistan- successfully. It remains to be seen how long the wolf threat will keep working. The essential point needs to be addressed , which is, can Pakistan afford to live under this criminal setup, with loot and plunder the law of the land. While the population struggles to survive under these conditions.
In the history of this world no Nation has been so ruled by criminals, with such impunity, with such audacity, while some highly educated learned members of the judiciary watched the lawlessness and did nothing. We are all guilty of complicity-for not standing up to evil.
